On 4th – 6th November, 2015, a mini-bus full of Scouts (plus a few cars of associated leaders, parents and siblings, and Venturers) went to the Warrumbungle National Park for a weekend of hiking and star gazing.
We left Friday afternoon, and arrived late that night (well, actually very early the next morning!). We camped in Haggis’ aunt’s property (thanks again!) and tackled the Breadknife hike on Saturday. It was steep and hot! Luckily we were given permission for a quick dip in a neighbour’s pool (I’m not sure they knew what they were letting themselves in for, but thank you!)
That night we travelled into Coonabarabran to the Warrumbungle Observatory to search the skies through several telescopes. The skies out there are amazing!
Sunday saw us having a later start, before tackling the Split Rock hike and piling into the bus for a long (I wish I could say “quiet”) ride home!
